Coaching and Mentorship

Coaching provides dialogue and support to ensure intentions are translated into necessary behaviours and action.  They can be conducted as standalone components or integrated with assessment and practical application tools.

One-on-one (Executive) Coaching

This approach focuses on the behaviours and performance goals of individuals.  The coach encourages, listens, and offers suggestions to sustain and improve the experience.  
Coaching can be conducted by the participants’ managers or by a Schulich industry-qualified coach.  External coaching provides learners with a neutral and safe environment to share the challenges of working through their action plan.

Executive Coaching Integrated with a Leadership Program

Tools, such as 360 personal assessments, create awareness of individual leadership strengths and challenges.  Each behavioural attribute is discussed in a group or class setting, followed by participants interpreting their results with peers in their group, company and over a wider sample.
Using the assessment results as their basis, participants create a Personal Development Action Plan (PDAP) to identify development targets and the behaviour, skills changes, and specific actions necessary to achieve their goals.  A Schulich coach provides direction for each individual in creating the resolve to work on the plan and turning good intentions into an actionable plan.

Peer Coaching

Peer coaching is intended to create success by offering encouragement, support and best practices to peers working through challenges and results.  These forums can be conducted with, or without, a Schulich coach.

Project Coaching

SEEC’s custom leadership programs often incorporate an Applied Learning Program (ALP) project  - a real world assignment, performed in small teams, to challenge and accelerate leadership capabilities.  Coaching is provided from a CEO perspective  to guide project team members through their project, providing feedback and pushback throughout the journey.

Mentorship

Mentoring provides generalized knowledge support, career advice, a sounding board for issues and challenges, or perhaps a role model to emulate.  This is typically conducted as one-on-one sessions with members of the same company.  Schulich can assist your company set up and structure a mentorship program. Often such a program is conducted as an integral part of a leadership program which integrates senior leadership into the program via mentorship.
