Corporate sustainability strategy is now a key issue for business – and the Schulich School of Business is recognized as the leader in the field. Now, the Schulich Executive Education Centre is bringing this MBA expertise to a new program geared towards business people grappling with the issue on the front lines.
Professor Charles Cho, director of SEEC’s new Strategic Leadership in Sustainability program, is a co-founder and director of Schulich’s Centre of Excellence in Responsible Business (COERB), a global leader in creating and disseminating new knowledge about the social, ethical, environmental and political responsibilities of business. It is one of the reasons why Schulich has ranked number one in the world in teaching responsible business by such Corporate Knights magazine and the Aspen Institute.
Drawing on over 40 faculty experts from across the school, COERB is one of the world’s largest and most influential academic centres dedicated to triple bottom line thinking. Cho is joined in this three-day SEEC program by Schulich colleagues Kathrin Bohr, Lindsay Colley, Dirk Matten and Klaudia Watts.
Stakeholders across the board – consumers, regulators, employees and suppliers – see the alignment between an organization’s business interests and those of society as a pre-requisite. Yet many executives and managers tasked with integrating sustainability into their organizations or departments lack the multi-dimensional understanding required to unlock its full potential.
This corporate sustainability program has been developed to give those in “non-sustainability roles” the enhanced skills and insights they need to successfully develop and implement innovative strategic sustainability programs that add real value to the bottom line. With a focus on practicality, it outlines and clarifies the foundational concepts, and then digs into the key steps, functions and frameworks involved in implementing sustainable operations for competitive advantage. It is designed specifically for:
- Directors, managers and professionals newly tasked with implementing sustainability initiatives and projects for their organization, division or department
- Organizational Corporate Social Responsibility practitioners/consultants wishing to refresh and update their skills and knowledge of sustainability
- Directors and executives in organizations at the beginning stages of integrating sustainability into their organization
- Entrepreneurs looking to integrate sustainability communication/concepts to gain competitive advantage
This three-day executive education program runs Oct. 3-5 at the Miles S. Nadal Management Centre at SEEC’s downtown campus. For more information and to register, visit the Strategic Leadership in Sustainability website today.
