Most people don’t set out to become project managers. Often, they are chosen for the role because of their expertise in a particular field or the position they hold, and bringing a project to completion can be a trying – and costly – exercise. Learning the basics of managing projects will help make the process better for everyone involved.
Not everyone who is a project manager, for small and large projects, can take the time to pursue a certification in the field. This course is ideally suited for those project managers, and team members, who want to understand and be able to apply the critical components that will lead them to project success.
The Project Management Course is a Virtual Classroom/Online program based on PMI® standards where you will learn how to plan, execute, monitor, control and close all types of projects, on time and on budget, in just three days. It is applicable to projects across all sectors.
The Project Management Course features both live, instructor-led virtual components, as well as pre-recorded videos that will be viewed by participants at strategic points before and during the sessions. This course structure allows the facilitator to concentrate on more challenging concepts in class, as well as lively discussions, polls, breakout groups and the application of key learning concepts. Limited homework will be required for pre-recorded video viewing, and to supplement the learning of key concepts in class, participants will be asked to apply those concepts to their own projects after class. All homework in the course goes into the participants’ own projects that they can take back to work and implement.
Course components look at topics such as roles and responsibilities, eliciting project requirements, scoping the project, building realistic schedules and costing, as well as risk identification, and risk response planning. One of the most important aspects of project management, communication with stakeholders, is a key takeaway that is critical to every successful project.
Participants will be asked to attend a mandatory two-hour, instructor-led follow-up session for open discussion and review of the key concepts. The date of that session will be determined in class.
Classes begin at 10am (EST) each day and finish by 3pm (EST) with a 45-minute lunch break.
Attend both The Project Management Course and Using Microsoft Project® Workshop and save $500. The optional 3-day Using Microsoft Project® Workshop is only $1,750 when you attend the seminar (regularly $2,250).
