The inaugural All About SMART (Successful Management After Residency Training) program launched this month at the Schulich Executive Education Centre (SEEC).
All About SMART brought together 30 ophthalmologists from across Canada for a customized leadership and business-management program from Dec. 7-9, 2019 at Schulich’s Executive Learning Centre.
The advanced program was customized for ophthalmologists and leveraged SEEC’s understanding of global best practices in management education, corporate training and executive development. The three program co-directors – Jaason Geerts, PhD; Baseer Khan, MD and Paul Sanghera, MD – facilitated the intensive session, which included 21 expert speakers over three days.
All About SMART was made possible by a medical education grant from Bausch + Lomb Canada.
The sessions were engaging and interactive with group work, simulations and on-the-job application to facilitate knowledge transfer and promote best practices. Topics included the Future of Healthcare, Leadership, Insurance, Ideation, Design Thinking, Physician CEO, Wealth Management, Influence and Persuasion. Networking opportunities were embedded in the program to facilitate peer learning and social collaboration
Upon completion of the program, each participant received a framed SEEC certificate for the All About SMART Program – Module 1.
